City of Sydney Inclusive Active Transport Research

City of Sydney and C40

Cred was engaged by the City of Sydney to investigate the current use of active transport (walking and cycling) by women for complex trips across Greater Sydney. The research aims to explore mobility through an intersectional approach, seeking to understand how women of all backgrounds, ages and abilities travel not only from A to B, but also all of the stops that happen in between.

The research forms part of the City’s commitment to climate change action, including the C40 Women 4 Climate (W4C) summit taking place in Sydney 2020. W4C was established because women make up more than half the world’s population, and although they are often disproportionately impacted by climate change, their voices are not always heard due to lack of inclusion and representation at the decision-making level.

The research will explore if and how women use active transport in different locations across Greater Sydney including any barriers they may face, and make recommendations on how city-shapers can make active transport more inclusive for all women.
