Cabramatta, Parks place and Fairfield City-Wide Open Space and Community Facilities Needs Study
Fairfield City Council is completing an accelerated review (2018/19 – 2019/20) and update of the Fairfield LEP to align with the priorities in the Western City District Plan released by the Greater Sydney Commission in 2018. Council engaged Cred Consulting to undertake an Open Space and Community Facilities Needs Assessment Study for Cabramatta and Parks Place and a City-wide consolidated document Fairfield LEP Review Project. This project is one of a suite of projects which will inform the new Fairfield LEP and associated plans (including development control plan and development contributions plan). The two studies will focus on Cabramatta Place and Parks Place within the Fairfield Local Government Area (LGA) and will add to the current study being prepared by Cred Consulting for Fairfield Place.
The studies will:
Address relevant Planning Priorities contained within the Western City District Plan and reference the aims and objectives in the Study’s undertaking
Identify standards for which open space and community facilities should be provided to ensure community well-being and social cohesion
Respond to the unique demographic context of Cabramatta and Parks Place when identifying open space and community facility needs
Identify gaps in provision of open space and community facilities within precincts for existing communities
Identify anticipated requirements for the provision of open space and community facilities for emerging and growing communities based on demographic and development forecasts up to 2026 and 2036 (forecasts used to be approved by Council, with potential to include both Forecast.id, Department of Planning forecasts, and any other relevant data).
Identify opportunities to better utilise existing open space and community facilities to reflect identified changing community needs
